Skills:
Rank 2: Climb Boat - This gives the Pirate the ability to scurry up the side of a boat in order to keep from drowning if thrown off a boat during a battle at sea or to board an enemy ship. The Pirate starts ten feet from the ship and then crawls towards the ship to simulate climbing the side of the ship. Nothing can be in the climber’s hands while climbing. Once the ship is reached they may enter the structure. If caught climbing the wall, the climber can only be hit with Missile Weapons until reaching the top. If the Pirate is hit, normal damage should be taken and the Pirate must fall to the water. This is a battle skill.
Rank 3: Hide Treasure - Pirates have the ability to hide their loot from thieves. To activate Hide Treasure the Pirate places the treasure inside a bag or chest with a crossbones symbol on it and then hides it The Pirate must also attach a card with his character name and his current character Rank on it. No other player may open, take or otherwise tamper with the container except for Pirates of higher rank with the Find Buried Treasure skill. Any players who stumble across these containers (without the Find Buried Treasure skill) may not reveal the location of the hidden treasure to any other players. A Pirate may hire another player - with the appropriate skill – to place a trap upon the bag or chest before it is hidden.
Rank 4: Back Stab - This ability can only be performed with a dagger. This is a normal battle skill. The attack must be by surprise against the victim’s back. The Pirate must indicate this attack by calling Backstab instead of the color of the weapon. Against AC5 through AC3, Back Stab causes death. Against AC2 through AC0, Back Stab mortally wounds the victim.
Rank 7: Find Buried Treasure - This skill allows the Pirate to locate and acquire any treasure hidden by Pirates with the Hidden Treasure skill. When the Pirate finds a chest, the Pirate reads the card attached to the bag. If the container was hidden by a Pirate with a lower rank than the Pirate with the Find Buried Treasure skill, then the Finder may open the container and remove any or all of the contents. Upon removal of the contents, the Pirate must place a card of his own inside the container with his own character’s name on it.
Rank 8: Pirate King - Pirates have their own ranks of nobility outside the standard Noble ranks. At 8 th Rank, the Pirate may become a Pirate King and must be respected by other Pirates of lower rank. There may only be three Pirate Kings at any given time in the game and the title may only pass hands through one-on-one combat. A Pirate King must accept all challenges to his “crown” at any given time, unless the challenged Pirate King has been mortally wounded and cannot fight. This is an Adventure Skill.
Rank 12: Terrorize - By the 12 th Rank, the Pirate’s name has reached far and wide as well has tales of the Pirate’s misdeeds. To represent the fear created by the spread of these tall tales, the Pirate may, twice each event day, call out “Terrorize” and anyone within 6’ of the Pirate must flee from the Pirate for 3 minutes and remain at least 20 feet from the Pirate. The Pirate using Terrorize may not be wounded or have any “bandages” applied through a First Aid skill. If the Pirate is wounded, the disillusionment is lifted and anyone under the influence of the Terrorizing may re-engage the Pirate in 30 seconds (or less, if the time remaining on a Terrorize effect is already less than 30 seconds). This is a battle skill.
