NOBILITY

Noble titles may be awarded for outstanding service to the game. But more than just service, candidates must warrant the respect of the realm (i.e. someone who plays fair and doesnt cause unneccesary problems).

Nobles have the following responsibilities within the game and to the club:

  1. Nobles must make sure that the game is being played safely. It is every Noble's duty to tell new players the importance of playing safely. Noble are also require to point out when players are not playing safely so the situation can be dealt with.
  2. Nobles must make sure that ALL participants (including themselves) are playing fairly at all times during events. This includes watching out for players who dont take their hits, those who dont act as they are supposed to when placed under a spell, and those who dont stay in Hades for the appropriate amount of time.
  3. Nobles are required to talk to new players about safety and fair play.
Nobles are given the same duties and responsibilities as game marshals (weapons, armor, costumes). It is their duty to keep the game safe in all aspects.
  4. Nobles may be called upon to Elder events and act as referee in disputes between players.
  5. Nobles must work for the best interest of the game regardless of their personal interests or the interests of their country. Nobles must strive to keep a level head at all times.

Nobles who are found neglecting their responsibilities may be, depending on the severity of the transgression, stripped of their title.

Petitioning for Nobility: when a player feels that they have adhered to the aforementioned list of Noble Duties and have been involved in Glacia for at least a period of one year they may petition to become a Noble. The are two divisions of Nobility available to all character classes. Baronet and Errant. While both are considered as Noble, only the Baronet gives the player a voice in the Noble Council. Errant titles are merely honorary for exceptional services to the game. No one may obtain a Baronet title unless they 1) submit a written petition (In and Out of Character) to the Noble Council and 2) meet the qualifications to the satisfaction of the current Noble Council and the Grand Elders. Petitons must include the name of the character, class, rank and current noble status if any.

Knight Baronet
Characters who are at least 5th Rank may petition for a Baronet title. Once the Council and Elders have approved Nobility the petition, the player is allowed to fight for their title in the next Noble Tournament. Baronet titles are awarded to those who win their battles. Nobles must petition each time they wish to advance in Noble rank.

Rights of the Baronet Title
1. The right to advance in Noble rank - KNIGHT, BARON, COUNT, DUKE, PRINCE, KING - at a rate of 5 Character Ranks per Noble Rank.
2. The right to wear personal symbols on their surcoats and shields.
3. The right to attend Noble meetings and vote on issues brought before the Council.
4. The right to be called "Lord" or "Lady" by the people of Glacia.
5. The right to forsake their own Noble title to become a Cavalier.

Knight Errant
These are honorary noble titles given, without need of petition, by the Noble Council, to those who are deserving because of exceptional services to the club. Knight Errants do not vote on the Council although they are considered to be Nobles. They are also limited to the Noble rank of Knight.

Rights of the Errant Title
1. The right to be called "Lord" or "Lady" by the people of Glacia.
2. The right to wear personal symbols on thier surcoats and shields.

COUNTRIES

Harchaon Hill consists of several player teams, each referred to as a Country. New players may ask to join pre-existing Countries or find friends and create a new country. There is no limit to the number of people in a country but Elders may regulate country size to keep team sizes fair. To form a country within Harchaon Hill, players must adhere to certain guidelines to obtain formal recognition.

  1. Find an appropriate number of people. You may choose to be a country of one, but defending it alone against a country of 5+ members may be a little difficult.
  2. Select an original symbol to be worn on all surcoats and shields of all players (except those of noble rank) and placed upon all banners in your country. Players must wear surcoats to be considered Citizens of that country.
  3. Choose a leader for your country. Preferably someone others will respect. The leader of a country gains a Knight Errant title for as long as they remain the leader or the country remains in existence.
  4. Countries must participate in Battles. If whole countries are missing battles on a regular basis the country may be dissolved from the map of Harchaon Hill.
  5. 13 hexes of adjoining space must be chosen on the map of Harchaon Hill as the country's beginning location.

Player teams are expected to personalize their countries in order to differentiate themselves from other countries. This can be done by only allowing certain character races (a country of Elves) or character classes within (a country of Rangers), having players within dress similarly (everyone dresses in green and blue), or having a similar attitude (everyone in the country is a bloodthirsty pirate or a nature loving faerie).

Characters who do not belong to any Countries are considered to be Nomads. Unless the character has a Noble title, nomads may not wear any kind of surcoat or emblem nor may they have any symbol on their shield except for a plain gray or brown cover.
