Astrologer

Description: The Astrologer is a surveyor of the heavens and taps into its power to guide and to defend. The Astrologer is a type of scientist/mage and has a deep respect for knowledge and the world around him. The player who portrays an Astrologer class must carry a deck of Tarot cards as part of his costume. The Astrologer is very limited in its fighting capabilities in that they are only able to wield daggers, spears and the bow and arrow. The Astrologer may wear any form of armor up to AC 2, but may only use bucklers as shields.


Magical Abilities:

Rank 1: Foresight
Cost: 1 point -- Duration: Instant
Length: 1 minute meditation -- Materials: Tarot Deck
Foresight allows the Astrologer to gaze into the future and see possible outcomes and the chance to change them. The degree of Foresight available depends on the Rank of the Astrologer.

Rank 1: Aquarius: This level of foresight gives the Astrologer the ability to find water and detect poison on or in a specified item. The answer will be given by any Elder.
Rank 2: Scorpio: This level of foresight gives the Astrologer the ability to locate but not disarm traps. The answer to whether or not there is a trap will be given by an Elder.
Rank 3: Pisces: This level of foresight gives the Astrologer the ability to navigate through sea and by land. Any party with an experienced Astrologer is given one extra point per movement turn.
Rank 4: Libra:This level of foresight gives the Astrologer the ability to see if anyone is speaking the truth. The answer will be given by any Elder.
Rank 5: Leo: This level of foresight gives the Astrologer the ability to identify, before preparations are made, the size (but not necessarily the skill) of any dangerous or aggressive parties in the immediate vicinity or in a neighboring hex. The answer will be given by any Elder.

Cosmos Mageia allows the Astrologer the ability to tap into cosmic forces to either restrict or enhance movement or to enhance awareness in others. The degree of which the Astrologer can focus the Cosmos Mageia depends on the Rank of the Astrologer.

Rank 6: Cosmos Mageia: Saturn
Cost: 1 point -- Range: Throwing Distance
Duration: 2 minute – Area Effected: 1 creature
Length: 200 words – Materials: Orange and White Spellball
Cosmos Mageia: Saturn is a binding spell that makes the target unable to move its legs for the duration of 2 minutes.

Rank 7: Cosmos Mageia: Luna
Cost: Variant -- Range: Touch
Duration: Instant – Area Effected: 1 creature
Length: 275 words – Materials: Black and Blue Gloves
Cosmos Mageia: Luna gives the Astrologer to temporarily expand the cosmic awareness of the target. Effectively this will recharge a spell caster’s spell points. The amount of points given to the other spell caster is double the amount spent by the Astrologer. The Astrologer may not use this spell upon himself.

Rank 8: Cosmos Mageia: Mercury
Cost: 1 point -- Range: N/A
Duration: Instant – Area Effected: Caster
Length: 300 words – Materials: A piece of Hematite
Cosmos Mageia: Mercury allows the Astrologer to escape from battle much like the Jester skill. To engage the spell, the Astrologer reads his spell, drops the rock at his feet and effectively vanishes from the vicinity in a blur. The Astrologer does not need to drop any relics or items specific to that battle to engage the spell. Once the spell is engaged, the Astrologer may not return to the same area or battle until after the battle has been resolved.

Rank 9: Cosmos Mageia: Pluto
Cost: 1 point -- Range: Throwing Distance
Duration: 4 minutes – Area Effected: 1 creature
Length: 400 words – Materials: Blue and White Spellball
Cosmos Mageia: Pluto is a more powerful binding spell than Cosmos Mageia: Saturn in that Pluto causes the entire body to become virtually motionless and the target is unable to move its arms or legs for the duration of 4 minutes.

Rank 10: Cosmos Mageia: Jupiter
Cost: 3 points -- Range: N/A
Duration: Permanent – Area Effected: 1 arrow
Length: 425 words – Materials: Red, White and Blue Ribbon
Cosmos Mageia: Jupiter allows the Astrologer to create one arrow of piercing every event day. After the player reads the spell, the ribbon is tied to the arrow the spell is enchanting. This arrow when fired will penetrate all armor causing red damage directly to the player and will destroy all shields with one shot.
